The Sven pool deck is a verdant oasis conjoining a historic clock tower building with a residential high rise in vibrant Long Island City, Queens. Situated on a roof of the new high rise (called “The Sven”) where it abuts the landmarked clock tower building, the pool deck embraces the historic structure with a living green wall—becoming a “green hinge” between the curved glass of The Sven, the yellow brick of the clock tower, the verdant plantings of the living wall, and the kinetic energy of the elevated subway sliding past. In the shade of these dramatic structures, the deck is an intimate environment to swim, recharge and socialize. A crisp color palette and mist feature create a spa-like atmosphere, while a grassy lawn and deck chairs offer sunbathing on the backdrop of the Long Island City skyline.
