Starr Whitehouse has been retained by Elevation Development Group to design outdoor amenity spaces for a 350 unit multi-family development in a new mixed-use overlay district in Covington, GA. The series of amenity spaces unfold across a steady rise in topography and the character of those spaces mirrors the native ecologies of the Georgia Piedmont. At the bottom of the slope, a large pool surrounded by lowland plantings and a variety of congregation spaces gives way to a sloping meadow with swooping switch-back paths and seating terraces. Across a parking lot, the meadow gives way to an upland Piedmont woodland and glade with spaces for barbecuing, quiet reflection, and active recreation. Together, the outdoor amenities offer residents a swath of contiguous greenspace with a variety of opportunities for both engaging with their neighbors, and retreating into nature.
