The Riverwalk, a new riparian landscape in the Bronx Zoo, follows a transect from lowland to upland habitats, exploring the complex relationship between human activities and the natural world through the composition of the landscape. The landscape design was integrated with ongoing in-water restoration efforts and development of public interpretation exhibits by the staff of the Wildlife Conservation Society. Under the leadership of our Studio Director, Jeff Poor, the design team’s expertise brought together public landscape design with environmental best management practices, incorporating wetland restoration, habitat enhancement and/or creation, bioremediation, the physical construction of paths, viewing platforms and site furnishings.
