Jacob Lange
Partner, Director of Starr Whitehouse Atlanta
Partner and Atlanta Studio Director Jacob Lange leads the firm’s work in the Southeast, focusing on waterfront parks, campuses, pedestrian-centered urban districts, and nature-based infrastructural solutions. Jacob also leads the firm’s building-integrated landscape practice, leveraging expertise gained over five years as Design Director of a New York City-based design-build practice. Across all project types, Jacob combines close attention to experiential quality with technical proficiency to craft multi-functional landscapes that improve quality of life, community health, and ecological performance. His ability to synthesize complex project requirements into legible, compelling, and high-performing designs is evidenced by repeat commissions from the Cities of Columbus, Roswell, and Alpharetta, GA, and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Shortly after establishing Starr Whitehouse’s Atlanta studio in 2018, Jacob led two winning entries for the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management’s Green Infrastructure Design Challenge. Under Jacob’s direction, Starr Whitehouse Atlanta was granted the 2026 “Firm of the Year” award by the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Beyond his project work, Jacob is an active member of the ULI Atlanta Chapter and a graduate of the chapter’s 2020 Center for Leadership program. He has volunteered for Park Pride’s Park Visioning program, is an annual guest lecturer at Clemson University’s School of Architecture, and has served as a guest critic at Georgia Tech’s School of Architecture, University of Georgia’s College of Environment and Design, and University of Pennsylvania’s Stuart Weitzman School of Design.
