after the former prime minster who fought to reclaim the land as open green space."

Zakrzewski + Hyde Architects in the Hudson Square
Design Charrette, displayed and reported in the
Downtown Express and the
Villager (“Architects Brainstorm Ways to Add Park Space”).
The complete charrette will be on public display at St Johns Center, 570 Washington
Street (at Houston), New York, from October 27 to November 25, 2007. Mon-Fri
12-6pm, Sat 12-4pm.

As part of a public participation program, Starr Whitehouse was present at
the FAB (Fourth Arts Block) Festival.
The FAB Festival included performances by more than a dozen theater, film, and art groups.

submits the final eight Waterbody/Watershed Facility Plan reports to
New York State, meeting the 2004 Consent Order milestone towards improving
the quality of the City’s
marine waters. In the preceding 14 months, Stephen Whitehouse and Hannah Fischer-Baum
of Starr Whitehouse conduct over 30 public participation meetings, as part of the
Long Term Control Plan project team led by the Joint Venture of Greeley and Hansen,
O’Brien & Gere, and Hazen and Sawyer.

The Front Street Courtyards were designated by the
New York Chapter of the ASLA as the recipient of a Merit Award for
Landscape Architectural Design.
Located in Lower Manhattan’s Seaport Historic District, the Front
Street Courtyards were built in conjunction with the adaptive reuse
of 11 historic maritime buildings into residential space and the
construction of three contemporary residential buildings. The
project is a showcase for high-performance green design.

The Battery Bosque was designated by the New York Chapter of
the ASLA as the recipient of an Honor Award for Landscape
Architectural Design.

The Waterfront Center's 2006 Excellence on the Waterfront
Award presented its Top Honor Award to the Battery Bosque.
Laura Starr organized the design and building of the Bosque,
overseeing a multidisciplinary team of architects, lighting
designers, renowned garden designer Piet Ouldolf, in designing
and building the Bosque. The Bosque carves a natural refuge out
of the otherwise bustling Battery Park. Composed of 2 acres of
garden rooms woven together under the cover of a grid of London
Plane Trees, the Bosque features a Spiral Fountain, a popular
place for children to play, food kiosks, and an upcoming marine-
themed carousel. The Battery Park Bosque offers a series of spaces
of diverse character, where people can eat, gather, chat, and sit.
